Kodiak Cookie Monster Kennels

Our story began over twenty years ago with a love for the noble English Mastiff. From 2001 through 2011, we bred and raised Mastiffs that were shipped to loving families across the United States. Each one was carefully placed and deeply loved, and when our last Mastiffs passed from old age, our hearts were broken. We took a long pause — over a decade — because you can never truly replace the dogs who become part of your soul.

In 2022, we finally found a breed that reignited that same passion — the Caucasian Ovcharka, also known as the Caucasian Shepherd Dog. We began again with Shelby, Navy, and Halo, and soon welcomed our magnificent imported male, Kodiak Cookie Monster, from Croatia, registered with FCI, CKC, and UKC. These dogs weren’t chosen by chance — they were chosen out of necessity and love.

Living deep in the woods of northern Minnesota, our driveway stretches nearly half a mile. For years, I often found myself home alone at night while my husband worked third shift. There were times when strangers ignored our “No Trespassing” signs, drove all the way up to our gate, even pounding on our door. Those were frightening nights — the kind you never forget. I realized then that I needed protection — not from a gun or alarm system, but from loyal guardians with instincts as powerful as their hearts.

That’s when we found the Caucasian Ovcharka. They were everything I needed — protective but kind, strong yet gentle, and deeply devoted to their family. Kodiak will take my hand softly in his mouth and walk me to the building like a gentleman. They don’t bite; they understand respect. They guard without being cruel. It’s a mutual trust — they protect me because they love me, and I love and respect them in return.

Our dogs naturally know how to guard. I never had to teach them aggression — only focus. They patrol the fence lines together, each knowing their role. Shelby often stays near me, while Halo and Navy run the perimeter. If something seems wrong, all three form a circle around me until the threat is gone. That’s the instinct and intelligence that makes this breed so extraordinary.

We decided to keep a few of our first puppies — Blue, Storm, and Grizzly Cookie Monster — because of their special bonds with us. Blue was the tiniest of the litter and needed extra love. Storm showed incredible size and potential. And Grizzly… he was my shadow from the moment he opened his eyes. We also brought Tank Cookie Monster home after rescuing him from neglect, and he’s now thriving.

At Kodiak Cookie Monster Kennels, we breed for health, temperament, and purpose. I am not a puppy mill and do not condone them in any form. I waited patiently to breed my dogs the right way. Halo was my first to have a litter — but only after she turned three years old, once she was fully grown and mature. Many breeders don’t wait that long, but I did. Navy and Shelby are now expecting their first litters, and they will be four years old in January. That means I’ve waited years to ensure that each mother is physically and emotionally ready, and every litter is born from love and responsibility — never from rushing or greed.

Our dogs are not kennel-raised — they live on our farm, surrounded by nature, pigs, chickens, and cats. They’re respectful, balanced, and loving. Our puppies go only to carefully screened homes that will love and protect them as much as we do.

We believe in integrity, patience, and transparency. We stay connected with every new owner and ask for updates because every puppy will always be part of our story.
